"WE HEART ACADEMY connects teaching artists to underserved communities."

WE HEART ACADEMY is a new Coordinating Organization for the Arts in Corrections (AIC) Program, now serving the Central Valley. The AIC Program, funded by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Arts Council (CAC), provides instruction by professional artist-teachers and art materials to inmates in prisons around California. Current workshops include mobile murals, drawing, painting and dance through WE HEART ACADEMY at Deuel Vocational Institution (DVI).

We currently have several NEW openings for driven individuals to provide art workshops in drawing, painting, music, singing, and dancing who wish to use arts and culture to better their community.  Come work with our outreach program to use your talents and gifts! The candidate’s primary responsibility would be in preparing college-level syllabi, teaching stimulating arts classes, and enriching the lives of your students.  The objective is to encourage, instruct, and mentor prison art students in developing skills and concepts in the arts and culture.

Teachers will be reimbursed for the required training, travel, preparation, teaching and mileage.
